Angels fly because they take themselves lightly (G.K. Chesterton)
Plato’s remark that “Even the gods love jokes” must be accurate for the value
of laughter is recorded in sacred scripture. For example, the Koran
states that “He deserves paradise,he who makes his companions laugh”
By the fourteenth century, the healing power of humor was recognized
by the medical community. An important French surgeon, Henri de Mondeville
(1260-1320) wrote “Let the surgeon take care to regulate the whole regimen
of the patient’s life for joy and happiness, allowing his relatives and special
friends to cheer him, and by having someone tell him jokes.”
He who laughs last, laughs best – or –
He who laughs last, didn’t get the joke –
Laughter is the best medicine…..
Even the ancients appreciated the value of laughter.
Whether it’s a giggle or a belly laugh….
laugh at yourself, laugh at whatever
strikes your funny bone.
Live long, laugh often.
