WATER SOURCES

RAINFALL

CREEKS

STREAMS

RIVERS

LAKES

OCEANS

WELLS

SPRINGS

AND THE CALIFORNIA AQUEDUCT

CONSIDERED THE CROWN JEWEL OF CALIFORNIA

The State’s longest water transport system

Stretches four hundred  forty our miles

From the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta

In the north

to Lake Perris

In Southern California

and furnishes water

to a million acres

of farmland

along the way.

A concreted-lined channel

Once it has crossed

the Tehachapi Mountains,

Divides into

Two branches: the west

and East.

Water flows

Through the Aqueduct

In a series of

Abrupt rises and

Gradual falls

until it reaches

Its final destination

As it drops down into

the San Fernando Valley,

It is a wondrous sight

Lit up and visible at night

From the Golden State Freeway

and how we take for granted

turning on the tap

to a continuous flow

of clean water.
