I don’t remember…did you like your eggs
Poached or sunny side up?
Did you like your toast buttered or plain,
Sanka or tea in your cup?
I don’t remember…did you prefer red wine
Or would you rather just drink white?
Or would you just as soon have a beer?
To drink with your dinner at night?
I don’t remember your after-shave,
or the cologne that you would wear,
I don’t remember just what it was,
That gave you the right to swear.
Your baleful wrath was really a sight,
to shout and curse us all….
But I don’t remember just what it was
that caused the final Great Fall.
But fall we did, from your good graces,
And off you went in retreat;
I don’t remember what all you said–
I only remember…..RELIEF.
