DEFINING FRIENDSHIP

“A friend is one who knows you are you are, understands where you have been, accepts what you have become, and still, gently allows you to grow.” -William Shakespeare

Throughout our lives, friends come and go,

as sure as day meets night,

And friends from school, from work, they come

then sometimes fade from sight;

Then come the friends from PTA,

when our children were in school,

Friends with whom you share your life

and lived the golden rule;

Friends might be penpals that you met

Along the inky trail,

You’re ever in each other’s lives,

Forever, without fail;

but sometimes friends may simply part

and go their separate ways,

Still you know you’ll keep them in

Your heart for all your days.
