And so, it all has come to this,

The final word, the final kiss,

I touch your hand, to let you go

and ache inside to let you know

How much I yearn to keep you here,

To have the chance–but no, I fear,

You’ve gone too far to come back to

That  worn-out overcoat ’twas you,

I hope you knew that I was near,

To hold your hand and ease your fear–

No one knew as much as I

How great your fears that you would die.

But die you did–I tried my best

to stop the tide and give you rest.

And so it comes to this my friend,

The time to call it all “the end”
